Appalachian Double Cross
HI All,
The inaugural Appalachian Double Cross will start from Sky Meadows State Park in Paris, Virginia on Oct 6th at 5:00 a.m. Parking at the park is $4.00 per day. The brevet fee will be $30 payable at registration from 4:00-5:00 a.m. on Oct 6. We will have a camp site on Friday the 5th if anyone is interested in camping with me the night before. The brevet will travel thru Lost River and Elkins, WVA on the way to Glenville where we will have a room reserved. From Glenville we pass thru Parkersburg and cross the Ohio River on the way to the turn around at the Union Diner on the campus of Ohio University in Athens. The route is a combination of lightly traveled US highways and WVA byways. The scenery should be very colorful.
Come discover Wild Wonderful West Virginia on Columbus Day Weekend. I encourage anyone contemplating taking the challenge to do so. I will be more than willing to try and keep a group together at least for the night stretches. If you want to experience the charms of West Virginia but aren’t ready for the Appalachian Double Cross we could use a volunteer or two to help out at the start. Hiking on the AT is just steps from the camp ground.
