Logo Contest Redux

The good news: Results of the DC Randonneurs Logo Competition are in–

Logo B, (big “DC”): 23 votes.

Logo A, (bike over capitol): 11 votes.

Logo C, (swoopy road), 9 votes

A big thanks to everybody who took the time to vote!

The bad news: Logo B looks too much like the logo for WABA (Washington Area Bicyclist’s Association at waba.org).

A couple of our members noticed the similarity. We asked the WABA staff for their thoughts and they think ours is too similar to theirs. We’d like to stay good neighbors with our fellow bicycling groups so we’ve concluded that, unfortunately we can’t use Logo B (or Logo A, which is even more similar).

BUMMER! But we won’t let this keep us down for long. We have an incredibly talented club and know we can create a logo that is unique and appealing. Go DC Randonneurs! A big thanks to everybody who took the time to vote!

Next step: Start a new logo competition

We’ll follow roughly the same process as last time: Ask for logo contributions; Board whittles down to a reasonable number of choices; members vote on final logo.

Deadline: Please submit logo contributions by September 1

Since many people may have vacation plans in August, we are setting a deadline of midnight at the end of Labor Day, September 1. Guidelines for the logo and entry are the same as before, though obviously you might want to avoid logos that look like anyone else’s.

Ride safe and have fun,
