Welcome to DC Randonneurs:

We look forward to seeing you "on the road" and/or answering your questions! New (and experienced) riders with an interest in Randonneuring are always welcome on our events. We hope you find us as welcoming as we like to think we are.

Randoneurring is a French term for cycling that is long-distance, unsupported, non-competitive, and time-limited.

We offer about 12 to 15 randonneuring events each year, often including roads in MD, VA, going into PA, WV, and DE. Most of over events start within about an hour of Washington, DC. A few of these events are very flat; others are very hilly. If any of this interests you, please come join us! The best times to socialize (besides while riding with someone who shares your pace) is at stops, and at the finish where we generally share food and tell stories (aka lies) about our adventures on the road!

Below, find some quick tips (links) on where to get current randonneuring information.

If you have any more questions, feel free to write us directly or ask quesions via the DCR list-serve. New randonneurs often have questions on equipment, ride nutrition, how to "endure", what to take, etc. Please put DCRAND in the subject line so we'll know your message is not SPAM.

Also, the RUSA Handbook (which is free with RUSA membership), and this DCR website, try to answer many of these questions.

    Bonne Route,
    The DCR Board and Members.

P.S. If you would like to have one of our members commit to staying with you on an event, just let our new member representative know (and let us know how fast you think you're likely to ride) and we will do our best to find someone who is probably around the same speed who'll stay with you.
